For 30 years, Iris has been helping people make important decisions at Migros Bank. Standing still has never been an option. Whether at work, while travelling, during a sabbatical or on a yoga teacher training course in Sri Lanka, Iris is always seeking fresh perspectives. Today, that same curiosity shapes the way she advises clients as a financial planner.

Advice with Heart

In Schaffhausen, Iris is responsible for the branch and, as a financial planner, supports people with pension planning, wealth management and financing matters. Together, they find financial solutions that fit each client’s life situation.

Iris began her career in client advisory services three decades ago, when the team consisted of just three people. Today, many things are bigger, the tools are better and the bank has undergone significant modernisation. But her conviction remains unchanged: good advice will always matter. After all, behind every pension plan, early retirement or financing arrangement is a decision that can change someone’s life for the better.

Broadening perspectives

After building up a wide range of practical experience over the years, Iris qualified as a financial planner at the age of 40. Today, she also shares her knowledge as an examination expert. She believes that practical experience and education work best in combination. This keeps Iris up to date with current topics and allows her to incorporate new reforms or changing market conditions into her work.

Gaining new perspectives

She is also able to do this because she is constantly gaining new perspectives. Even before starting her apprenticeship, Iris felt drawn to explore the world. That has not changed to this day. During a sabbatical, she travelled to several countries and completed a yoga teacher training course in Sri Lanka along the way, simply to develop a deeper understanding. This openness also accompanies her in her day-to-day work. New developments, different client situations and professional exchange ensure that, even after 30 years, she continues to learn something new.

If you show initiative, there are many opportunities at Migros Bank. Of course, like any other bank, we have goals too. But we can actively contribute and even help define those goals. That makes you part of the process.

Sharing new perspectives

Whether in Sri Lanka or Schaffhausen, Iris seeks out new perspectives. She brings what she learns along the way to every client consultation, together with her determination to keep developing. Perhaps that is exactly why it works so well: Iris is given room to grow, and she makes the most of it. She has been doing so for three decades.

What has positively surprised you about the job?

To this day, I am delighted by how much trust people place in me. We often talk about topics that go far beyond numbers. That is exactly what makes my profession so fascinating to me.

Which qualities are particularly helpful in your profession?

I enjoy listening and I take a genuine interest in people. At the same time, good advice requires sound specialist knowledge. The combination of the two helps me explain even complex financial topics in an understandable way.

Which moments make your working day special?

The moments when a conversation creates clarity. When people gain confidence, are able to make decisions and I can feel that I have genuinely helped them move forward.

What do you value about working together at Migros Bank?

Two things. The space and opportunities I am given to continue developing, whether through further training or a sabbatical. At the same time, I particularly value the trust I feel, which allows me to play an active role in shaping things myself.

What would you say to someone who is interested in this job?

If you like people, enjoy listening and stay curious, you will feel right at home here. Just like when travelling, you are constantly discovering something new in this profession. That is what continues to make it exciting for me, even after many years.
